What is the Blizzard Bucks Battle?
The Blizzard Battle is our school's way of joining forces to raise funds for field trips, books, school assemblies, and extra activities that support the learning of all students in our building. This event is a new spin on the old Penny Wars, which has been one of our most successful fundraisers for years; thanks to all of you! The rules will generally be the same, but after many years of your students raiding your penny jars, we thought you might be getting low on copper! Join us in this icy battle!
How Can You Participate?
The week of the Blizzard Battle, send your child to school with money to feed the Yeti. Dollar bills are his favorite, and he detests coins. Coins freeze the dollar bills. For every $1 worth of coins, you will freeze a $1 bill. Place dollars in your grade’s Yeti and coins in your opponent's Yeti. Ask your family to help you feed the Yeti by donating dollars and coins.
Why Your Support Matters?
The funds raised through the Blizzard Battle will directly benefit Ella Canavan students. The PTO has used the money to buy planners, enhance our school facilities, support educational programs, and provide supplies to our teachers. For example, we’ve recently purchased a new piece of inclusive playground equipment for our school and can’t wait for it to be installed! Your contributions make a significant difference in the lives of our students.
To help sweeten the deal, the winning grade will receive a frozen treat party with an indoor snowball fight!
When?
We will officially launch the Blizzard Battle on December 4th and it will run until Dec. 8th. Every morning that week, students may come to the Learning Commons to place their money in the Yeti’s mouth of their choice. Encourage younger children to place dollars in their grade’s Yeti and coins in other grade’s Yeti.
